Networks play a significant role in communication today. There a different types of networks, the types we communicate on locally (within our homes) and we control, and then there are networks we have little control over, yet still use for communication. Keeping mind the different types of networks, think about the types of networks, for what, why and hoe much? Identify the types of networks, from local to wider regional, national and global. What are the ways in which data can travel over those networks, now and in the future.
Hi,
Please find the answers below:

Solution:
Some of the different types of networks are as follows:
LAN (Local Area Network)
This type of computer network connects network devices over a short physical distance like home, office or school campus etc. LANs are privately owned networks and owned by a single organization that has built it.
WLAN (Wireless Local Area Network)
A LAN network using wireless network using Wi-Fi router.
MAN (Metropolitan Area Network)
An intermediate are network that is larger than LAN but smaller than WAN example city. MANs are generally owned and operated by large organization or government bodies.
Example: Cable television network.
WAN (Wide Area Network)
Wide area networks spans a large physical distance like country, continent etc. The largest WAN or the global WAN is the World Wide Web or the internet. A WAN is a collection of physically scattered LANs. WANs are managed and operated by different companies ISPs (internet service providers) and have distributed ownership.

Ways of data travel:
Different ways in which data can travel over those networks are as follows:
Wired
Magnetic media like CD’s, USB etc.
Wired cables- using twisted pairs (wires are twisted to reduce cross talk) , coaxial cables( share the same axis and layered wires) , power transmission lines etc
Fiber Optics- uses light transmission.
Wireless – using electromagnet frequency, radio transmission, microwaves, infrared, satellites etc.

Hope this helps.
