An industrial robot is a robot which is automated, programmable and also capable of movement. The industrial robots are the programmable, mechanical devices which are used for performing repetitive tasks with high accuracy. A general-purpose electronic computer is a normal computer which can be used by human users at the workplace. Industrial robots are automated while the general-purpose electronic computer is not automated and they are run by human users. For example, in the accounting department, the industrial robot can be used to perform a repetitive task such as maintaining balance sheets or performing a calculation based on the balance sheet which requires high accuracy and is a repetitive task. While the users can perform the similar task manually using the general-purpose electronic computer for the tasks of the accounting department.
