Broadcast frames are special frames that are delivered to every devices connected on Local Area Network.

They have specific MAC address, FF:FF:FF:FF:FF:FF. i.e. all 32 bits in the address are 1's.

Broadcast domain: The group of eligible devices for a broadcast.

Type of communication : All to All

Broadcast Net mask: 255.255.255.255.

Broadcasting is used for several reasons:

An information is intended to be received and processed by every node on the network.

i.e. When there is an announcement for every node in the network.  

Information needs to be transmitted to many receivers.

For example,

A radio station broadcasting a signal to many listeners

It is used as :

Broadcast IP address is to connects all devices with one another on a network which enables to send information from source to every devices connected on LAN.
