Parking management. Parking spaces are classified as being for general use, disabled and visitor. All the parking places are uniquely identified within an area. These areas may be subdivided into smaller areas so reserved booking of an entire area could be made for a period. Rent for parking depends on the type of area being either uncovered or covered. If an uncovered area were to be covered in the future it would be redefined as a new area. A permit to park is given for an area or for a specific space within a period. When somebody is given a parking permit, they must nominate one or two vehicles identified by the registration number, colour, make and model. To aid parking management, access is provided only via swipe card. Thus, a record is kept of usage and a signage can be displayed at the entrance to show space availability in an area. This also provides statistics that indicates the number of parking permits could be issued. 1. Draw a logical ERD in crow’s foot notation for the dataset described above.
A Customer enters into the parking space and a swipe card entity is provided which records the time the car enters and the car no. Since the Vehicle has to be related to one or more cars Vehicle X and Vehicle Y is created as entities with the respective attributes. The parking space entity is related to signal entity which shows the customer whether a space is free or not by showing the respective light(Green or red). Rent is collected according to the duration used by the cars. A record Entity maintains the date, time ,vehicle no and money collected.
