What comes to mind when you think of the term information systems? You might focus on the technological components that collect data and disseminate information. Or, you might focus on how people interact with information systems, such as how they use the information or how management information systems are implemented. Whichever aspect stands out, it’s important to know how information systems continue to grow and affect organizations around the world.

In this Assignment, you will respond to a set of questions on information technology, management information systems, and hardware and software.

  • Identify three types of hardware required to support a company’s operations and describe how they support those operations. (75 words, or 1 paragraph)
  • Identify three types of software required to support a company’s operations and describe how they support those operations. (75 words, or 1 paragraph)

INFORMATION: A collection of processed data is called Information.It is meaningful and output of any System.If we give Data as input to the system and it produces information as output after processing the data.

           DATA SYSTEM INFORMATION

Information may be Text,number, Audio,Video etc. It is used for Decision Making. Information depends on the data because without data we cannot generate the information. For example,

  • Grade of a Student in a subject :Here subject is a Data and if we give the name of a subject to a school system, it produces an output as a Grade of that particular Subject.
  • Profit of a Company: If we give the total expenditure and income as input, after processing got the income as output.

INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY (IT): When we apply technology for collection,processing,storage and sharing of Data then it is called as Information Technology. It refers to the anything connected to the computing such as hardware,software,networking etc. It includes not only the computers but also other communication devices such as radio,television,telephone etc. Any Technology that gives information is considered as IT. Examples of Information Technology are:

  • Telephone and radio used for Telecommunications.
  • Systems with Hardware,software and users
  • Networks and networking devices such as bridge, router, switches etc.
