GRETL is an free econometrics software. The term GRETL means Gnu Regression Econometrics and time series library. This software can be used on any os such as Linux windows Mac etc. It is one of the best apps for user because of its very easy convenient gui. In this you can execute your commands in 2 way either by executing them on command line one by one or by putting all together in a file and then running that script file. This is the initial GUI of the software -

From. The menu bar in the top you can import export your data, analyze data, and manage the output.

There are various commands used in this tool. One thing that has to be remembered is that this software is case sensitive. Here x is different than X. If you want any type of help regarding coomnds or anything else you just have to execute command and help.

The various commands are -

Open - opens a data file.

Append - appends the values to the current dataset.

Smpl - it resets the sample range.

Store - saves the data into file.

Genr - creates a new variable

Delete - it removes the variable.
