Data administration plays an important role in Information Systems Management as it performs the co-ordination of strategies for metadata management and information. It does so by taking the command on modeling functions and gathering requirements.

Data administration in Information System Managment involves the storing and organizing of data and therefore, it helps in managing the Information Systems. The information resource across related applications demands for planning and co-ordination of the same which is performed by data administration.

For an Information System of an organization, the main aim of data administration is planning, documentation, management and control of Information Systems Management.
