The advancement in the GUI technology and Interfaces provided to the user to issue command has undergone a radical change in the past few years which in turn is influencing the OS developers to provide better display adapters and their design which will enable smooth UI experience.

Increase in the Cloud technology to various processing and the distributed computing architecture is influencing the OS design to be more distributed and not monolithic.

The increase in the ATM(Asynchronous Transfer Mode) To transfer data stream between components to achieve high through put is also influencing the OS design.
