Microsoft Access has made a powerful, single user database available on everyone's desktop. Why do you feel the use of this tool should be limited? Do you have any examples? Security would be a huge issue.
Yes, the usage of the tool should be minimised as this database comes up with each operation system. So, each user can have their own database. This is actually not recommended to use on a critical applications as whenever more number of users try to access the database, the database actually shows performance issue. Moreover, this database is not being designed to used with application that are being web based as it is only restricted to the particular windows machine and is not compatible with the browser.
Security is remains a concern for this database as there is always remains a chance of data leakage as the database is not that secured. Moreover, there is also high chance of data theft.
