What are the advantages and disadvantages of using open-source software? Do you think that this is a viable option for your company?

Advantages of open source software:

1) Low initial cost

2) Reliability due to many experts work together for the development of the application.

3) Longevity due to continuity and long evolve of the application.

4) Flexibility in the application

5) Continuous development.

Disadvantages:

1) Developers may have chance of loosing the interest in project leads to dropping.

2) No particular management to handle in tough situations.

3) Security will be a higher concern for the open source application,

4) It may developed with the intent of the developer no the end user.

It is a viable option of there is no particular fund available for the completion of the product. And if there is no proper resource available for the development we can make it open source.
