Answer #1

A. Changing file permissions on a folder is very necessary to take the ownership of that folder. After changing file permissions, you will get all the required permissions of that particular folder and will have all necessary access control. You will get rid of the situations such as getting permission denied error when you are trying to access the data. For all these reasons, changing file permissions on a folder is important.

Below mentioned are the steps to change the file permissions on a folder-

1. Right-click on the file or folder and then click the Properties item and then click on Security tab.

2. Click Advanced. After that click the Owner tab.

3. Now click on Edit and perform either of the following operations-

   a. Click on other users and groups and then Enter the object name to select, then type the name of the user or    group and click on OK if you are changing owner to a user or a group that is not listed.

   b. If you are changing owner to user or a group that is listed, then in Change owner to box, click the new owner.

4. Select Replace owner on sub containers and Objects, if you want to take ownership of the content of that folder.

5. At last, click on OK and then click on Yes. After that, you can take the ownership of that folder.
