Integrated circuits and use of pins

Homework Answers

Answer #1

Integrated circuits : It is also called IC it can function as timer, microprocessor, amplifier etc. This is made up of silicon. These are used to store data and perfrom various operations on it. An ic contains millions of transistors, resistors and capacitors. The usage of ic in present days is as essential as natural resources like water, air. For example you can take any electronic appliance.

Use of Ic pins: They are made up of silver pins are used to connect to the circuit they play the major role in working of the circuit. There are various pins like power pin etc. Each pin has it's own number and notch is used to represent the direction of count. Most ic's have 1st pin in the direction of notch.

The single most important use of the element gold is for wires that join integrated circuits to the conducting pads that then connect microelectronic chips with external circuitry. A typical application uses gold wires 1.0 mil (0.001 inch) in diameter and 55 mil long. Although the current under normal conditions is much less, such a wire will fuse (that is, melt and interrupt the current) when the current exceeds some 660 mA. Find the current density in the wire when...

The fraction of defective integrated circuits produced in a photolithography process is being studied. A random sample of 300 circuits is tested, revealing 18 defectives. (a) Use the data to test the hypothesis that the proportion is not 0.04. Use α = 0.05. (b) Find the P-value for the test. (c) Find a 95% two-sided traditional CI on the proportion defective. (d) Use the CI found in part (c) to test the hypothesis. (e) Suppose that the fraction defective is...

A new process for producing silicon wafers for integrated circuits is supposed to reduce the proportion of defectives to 12%. A sample of 275 wafers will be tested. Let X represent the number of defectives in the sample. Let p represent the population proportion of defectives produced by the new process. A test will be made of H0 : p ≥ 0.12 versus H1 : p < 0.12. Assume the true value of p is actually 0.08. a/ It is...

Engineering students are learning to use phasor diagrams to analyze RLC series circuits. They are given the following phasor diagram, and they are told that the AC power source has a frequency of 60.0 Hz and the resistor has a resistance of 84.0 Ω. Four vectors and a directional arrow are positioned on a coordinate plane. All vectors begin at the origin. In counterclockwise order, starting from the bottom: a vector labeled ΔVC = 15.0 V points down along the...

Chapter 1 discussed the history of the vertically integrated corporate giants of the early 20th century. Use concepts to explain why firms facing the following conditions are more likely to vertically integrate: (1) The firm is in a developing economy; (2) the firm uses a capital intensive production process. Be sure to discuss both reasons to make and reasons to buy.
