Answer #1

ANSWER: How is performability different than reliability measure for a computer system: There are various measures for a computer system. Perfomability and Reliability are also two of them.

Performability is different than reliability measure for a computer system because,

- A reliability measure incorporates connectivity of a computer system. While perforamability measure is developed for computer networks as an alternative to reliability or perfomability measure.

- Reliability measure is an aspect of performance that refers to how consistently a computer system program or software does what it is supposed to do. While Perfomability means responsiveness, stability, scalability, reliability, speeed and resource usage of a computer system.

1- A particular automatic sprinkler system has two different types of activation devices for each sprinkler head. One type has a reliability of 0.87; that is, the probability that it will activate the sprinkler when it should is 0.87. The other type, which operates independently of the first type, has a reliability of 0.77. If either device is triggered, the sprinkler will activate. Suppose a fire starts near a sprinkler head. a) What is the probability that the sprinkler head...

A system consists of n identical components in parallel with each component having a reliability of p. The failure events of the components can be assumed to be independent. Compute the reliability of the system as functions of p and n. Plot system reliability as functions of p and n for the ranges of p = [0.9, 0.99, 0.999] and n = [3, 5, 10, 100, 1000].
