The usage of technology has increased tremendously from the past few years. Like food , shelter , clothes and work , the Internet has become a basic necessity to every individual irrespective of their status. Because of this exponential increase in the number of internet users, the way of advertising has also changed a lot. Because it helps companies to target their customers much more effectively.

This process has also affected Newspaper business. The main source of income for newspapers come from their readers and advertisements. The way of advertising has changed a lot in recent times. Customers get to see only what they want to see. Advertisements became very specific and this can never be done using newspapers.

The way of delivering news to people has also changed, there are many blogs, websites and aggregator sites like Google News which deliver minute to minute news that happens all around the world within seconds. With the traditional way of delivering news , the user gets to read the news only a day after, which is not acceptable nowadays. Assume how the markets get affected if a certain news gets delivered lately.

Another disadvantage of newspapers is they need large storage space, many delivery units all over the country, more manpower which reduces the amount of the profit they get. So even these companies are moving towards online news delivery to their customers which keeps them in the race and also helps in earning more profits because of all the cost cutting.

And another major aspect is, everyone is very busy and they wouldn’t want to waste their whole precious time reading news which they don’t require. Sometimes they just want to know the summary of the entire content and only important points of the news. Which could not be done using traditional old style. There are many user friendly mobile applications which deliver short news like Inshorts . These apps also read news to us.

PEW RESEARCH CENTRE says that there is an increase of 3% in new unique visitors on news websites per month but whereas 8% drop in the daily circulated newspapers.
