  • iptables provide full NAT functionality which includes both source address mapping and destination address mapping.
  • It includes source NAT which is called SNAT whereas destination NAT is called DNAT.
  • We can say that iptables support the three general types of NAT:
    1. Traditional NAT
    2. Bidirectional NAT
    3. Twice NAT
  • These are all defined in RFC 2663
