Use a diagram to represent how this system works.
The Western Pacific University Enterprise System keeps track of data such as staff and student details, units and unit enrollment details, unit offerings, transcripts, and dormitory details. This system integrates processes from three different functional areas – student services, registrar’s office and student – in which an output of one functional area can be used as input for another functional area.
The three sub-systems are based on the three functional areas; the Student subsystem, the Registration subsystem and the Student Services subsystem, all connected to a central database.
The registration sub-system is used by the Registrar’s office to add student details. A user in the Registrar’s Office is able log in and out of the system. When logged in, the user is able to add a student by registering him/her into the university with their details being added into the system, and then provide the student with credentials to have access to the Student sub-system.
The Student sub-system is used by students. A student is able to log in or out of the system. When a student is logged in, a student can enroll in unit offerings, un-enroll from unit offerings, view their profiles and marks. Enrolling or un-rolling to the unit offerings is available to the student’s particular course and year level. When a student enrolls in a unit offering, the information is captured in the central database and becomes available to the other two sub systems.
The Student Services sub-system is used by the Deans in Student Services. A Dean is able to log in or out of the system. When a Dean is logged in, the Dean is able to allocate students to dormitories and confirm which students are living in which particular dormitory.
I am using DFD Diagram to represent this system in which there are 3 external entities
And three processes that represent the given subsystems
And there is One database to represent the central database used by all subsystems.
