Data Communication and Networking
Question:
Building and testing a Peer-to-Peer network
Tasks:
For this we will be needing a packet tracer software.
I have implemented this experiment in this software only and i will paste the screenshots too.
But firstly i want to tell you about
1) What is Peer-to-Peer network.
A peer-to-peer (P2P) network is created when two or more PCs or systems are connected and they share resources without going through a separate server computer. A Peer-to-Peer network can be an ad hoc connection--a couple of computers connected via a Universal Serial Bus to transfer files. A P2P network can also be a permanent infrastructure that links a half-dozen computers in a small office over copper wires. A P2P network can be a network on a much grander scale in which special protocols and applications set up direct relationships among users over the Internet.
2) IP Assigning :
With the command "Interface fastethernet 0/0" we enter the interface Fa 0/0 of our router, giving us access to be able to configure it. The "Ip address" command allows us to configure an IP address to the interface and a Subnet Mask Followed by "10.0.0.1 255.255.255.0" which is the IP address and the Subnet Mask.
3) Connection Testing :
It is just the way to ensure that each connection done by us is correct or not. Generally , the connections that are correct are indicated by the green dot and the connections which are not correct are indicated by the red dot.
4) Data Sharing :
Data sharing is the practice of making data used for scholarly research available to other investigators. Many funding agencies, institutions, and publication venues have policies regarding data sharing because transparency and openness are considered by many to be part of the scientific method.
5) Internet Sharing :
Internet Connection Sharing is a Windows service that enables one Internet-connected computer to share its Internet connection with other computers on a local area network.
6) Resource Sharing :
Resource sharing refers to the sharing of library resources by certain participating libraries among themselves on the basis of the principle of co-operation. This is applicable in sharing of documents, manpower, services, space, and equipment.
LAB WORK:
Here we are taking several laptops and a switch and we are establishing a network between them through a cable.
After establishing the network we are assigning ip address to each laptop as shown below. The procedure for assigning ip address to each laptop will remain.
In the screen shot which is pasted below, we are showing the successful Peer-to-Peer sharing of data. We can see the status of our network in bottom right corner.
I hope you will like this.
