How severe are minor lossess compared to major losses?

Is pipe bend or pipe angle preferred as a fitting? Why?

The severity of minor losses are very less when compared to major losses in pipe flow.

Reasons:The pipe flow will gets effected by both major and minor losses as follows.

Major losses:

Due to Friction in pipe

Depends upon the type of pipe used the diameter of the pipe.

Minor losses:

Due to bends and valves

Minor losses are neglected or considered as very minor when compared to major losses

Yeah.It is preferred as a fitting.

Because

1.The space provided at elbow is more.

2.Low of cost

3.Pressure Drop

The pressure drop depends upon the radius that have been provided at elbow of pipe.Hence the pressure drop takes place safely in pipe bends
