A Contractor is engaged under a contract incorporating NEC4 ECC Option B. All of the design of the works has been provided by the Client’s consultants. The works require 3000 cubic metres of concrete. The Contractor has noticed the following problem: whilst it is stated in the drawings in the Scope that the concrete must be Grade C30, it is stated in the specification section of the Scope that the concrete is to be Grade C40. The unit cost of Grade C30 is £70 per cubic metre whilst that of Grade C40 is £80 per cubic metre.
Assuming that the drawings are wrong, advise the Contractor and the Project Manager on the actions to be taken.
● As in the question given assume that drawing detalis are wrong and given that concrete must be of grade C30 and also given that the rate of C30 is £70 per cubic metre.
And in the specification section given that the concrete is to be of Grade C40 which have the £80 per cubic metre.
◆ So i advice the contractor and the project manager that work according to the specification section so by using the grade C40 at £80 cost will not exceed or differ from the estimated cost beacuse the estimating of the cost the projects are always done on the basis of rate of specfication.
So the cost in using C40 will match with the estimated cost of the project and there will be no problem related to cost.
if helpful them give like
thank you.
