a) How many acres will be covered with one tank?
b) How much product needs to be added to each tank?
Solution:-
Given data
sprayer has 20 nozzles over a boom width of 36 feet.
putput per nozzle is 365 mL per 30 seconds
It takes 22 seconds to drive 100 feet
The tank is 300 gallons
1 gallon = 3785.412 mL
1 acre = 43560 ft2
Area covered by sprayer in 22 seconds
As = 36 x 100 = 3600 ft2
time taken to cover 1 acre
= 266.2 seconds
Output of sprayer per second =
(a)
area covered with one tank
= 17.53 acres
(b)
product added to each tank
= quantity of product per acre x No. of acres
= 1 x 17.53
= 17.53 quart
