Which ASTM cement is most appropriate for the following construction applications? What types of mineral and/or chemical admixtures could be used for each application? Give reasons for your choices.

  • Construction of a bored pile with a depth of 25 metres.

Homework Answers

Answer #1

● Genrally in the construction of the bored pile the cement should be use like sulphate resistance cements.

So according to the ASTM we can use two types of cements on the basis of amount of sulphates available in the soil near the site.

Type II—more especially when moderate sulfate resistance is desired.

Type V—For use when high sulfate resistance is desired.

● In construction of the bored pile we should use superplasticizer admixture beacuse Low dosage of superplasticizer allow less requirements of the cement which could make the admixtures more cost effective.

It also reduces water content in concrete along with increases its workability & durability.

Example of superplisticizer for bored piles is polycarboxylate.

if helpful then give ?.
