Pick two of the five assumptions that are required to apply the unit hydrograph to a watershed. For each assumption, state what it is, describe it, and give an example of how that assumption might be violated in the real world.

Answer #1

1) Time invariance - it means that for a given effective rainfall and catchment, direct run off hydrograph (DRH) will always be same irrespective of when it occures.

Real world voilation -with season sometimes basin characteristics changes, that lesds to change in rainfall pattern so in the DRH but as per the assumption DRH will be same for given catchment.

2) Uniform effective rainfall - in derivation of unit hydrograph it is assumed that rainfall is uniformly distributed over the catchment basin.

Real word voilation - rainfall is not uniform in a catchment most of the time.

Consider a model where the Hecksher-Ohlin assumptions apply. There are two countries, Home and Foreign, two factors of production, labour and capital, and two goods, labour-intensive socks (S) and capital-intensive cars (C). Home is capitalabundant and Foreign is labour-abundant. Draw the Production Possibility Frontier (PPF) for Foreign. You must have S on the horizontal axis and C on the vertical axis. On your diagram show how much of each good Foreign produces at the world prices that both countries face....

Part I. Indicate whether true or false (T or F). ____ Storm water detention ponds typically are designed to regulate the outflow peak rate at or below a single target value, such as the pre-development (pre-land use change) peak runoff rate for a specified return period event. Detention storage alters the peak but not the volume of the outflow hydrograph. _____ Typical rating curves for weirs are concave upward. Typical rating curves for orifices are concave downward. ____ A sediment...

In the United States the expected money supply growth rate is 4 percent and the expected real GDP growth rate...
