The length of P-1 is 1650 feet, while the length of P-2 is 2200 feet. If the flowrate of P-1 is fixed at 940 GPM, what is the flowrate in P-2?

Answer #1

P1 and P2 are parallel pipes and hence their headloss are equal.

Using Hazen Williams equation, the headloss is equated and flow is found.

Flow for pipe 2= 804.625 GPM
