A rectangular shaped sedimentation tank is to be built for a design flow of 600 m3/h. If the detention time, overflow rate and weir loading rate are 3 hours, 50 m3/m2.d, 100 m3/m.d, calculate the length, width and depth of the tank and the weir length. (assume length to width ratio of 3:1) (8 points)

Design high-rate sedimentation tank(s) for a water treatment plant using plate settlers. 1. Design the rectangular sedimentation tank(s), including launders and sludge collection mechanism. 2. Design the countercurrent plate settlers, including length, angle, and distance between plates (to achieve 100% removal of the target particle described below). 3. Draw a cross-section of the sedimentation tank with dimensions, indicating the concrete walls, main pipes, launders, plate settlers. 4. Quantify/discuss the improvement(s) that may result from installing the plate settlers. Inputs: Design...

A wastewater treatment plant receives an average of 3.0 MGD of wastewater flow. Two rectangular primary clarifiers operating in parallel will treat the flow. If the length of each clarifier is four times its width, the width is 20 ft, and the depth is 10 ft, determine: a) the overflow rate in gpd/ft2. b) the detention time of each clarifier (in days).
