Types of Portland cement according to ASTM C150

Five types:

1.OPC(Ordinary Portland Cement)

2.Rapid hardening Portland cement

3.low heat Portland cement

4.sulphate resistance Portland cement

5.PSC (Portland Slag Cement)

Characteristics:

Type 1:It generates more heat

Type2:It has more specific surface

Type3:The process of hydration is low

Type4:It has more protective power towards corrosion

Type5: Compressive strength is more

Uses:

Type1:general construction like bridges, buildings..

Type 2:high early strength is required like road pavements

Type3:Used in gravity dams

Type 4:Used in constructing factories (chemical, fertilizers)

Type 5:most commonly used in construction that is being done on water
