Real life examples of axial members in structures are:

1. Columns : columns generally transfer loads from slabs and beams to the foundation in the form of axial forces.

2. Struts (Members of Truss) : Each member in Truss is axial members because of both the ends are pin they transfer or carry loads as axial forces.

3. Catenary cable: The cables used in bridges and structures to carry loads or to distribution loads are axial members because they have forces at any section in the form of axial forces.

4. Pedestals: This are same as columns but short in length used to carry indoor stages.
