What are the implications of Monoclines on Site Investigation. Or how do they effect sites?
Monocline generally consist zone of steeper dip within the horizontal or gently dipping sequence and these are step like fold formed in the rock strata.
Monocline is simple bend in the rock layers so that they are no longer horizontal.
In a monocline youngest rocks are at top on site and the oldest rocks are at bottom.
So monocline effects the size , shape and geometry of the site .
Site should be properly investigated and if monoclines are present there then it should remove because it may affect structural parts and may cause more deformation in near future.
