In an aquifer two wells are located 1400 m apart with a difference in head of 22 m. The cross sectional area of the aquifer is 30 m thick and 120 m wide with a hydraulic conductivity of 7 m/day. The average linear velocity between the wells is 0.5 m/day. Find the volume of the groundwater flowing across the cross-sectional area in m3/day and the porosity. (Hint: Use Darcy's Law)

Two monitoring wells are drilled into an aquifer 240 ft apart. The aquifer is sand with K = 12 ft/d, porosity = 0.23, and a thickness of 45 ft. Two wells are drilled 50 m apart in an aquifer which has K = 0.05 cm /s. The original height of the phreatic surface above the aquiclude is 12.2 m. The wells are pumped at a rate of 10 L/s. It is estimated that the effect of the pumping extends a distance of 600 m from the center of the well group. Determine the shape of the drawdown curve. The well diameters are 0.5 m.

Lake Waiua is Hawaii's only alpine lake.  It has (approximately) vertical sides and a 7000 m2 area.   Between 2010 and 2013, its depth declined from 3m to 0.3 m.    e) The soil of the lake bed has a porosity of ϕ=0.5.  After the lake drained, the soil is unsaturated and has water content of θ=0.3, and a matric potential (head) of -20m.  There is a rainstorm. After 1 day, all the rainfall infiltrates over the unsaturated soils. The cumulative infiltration (F) depth is...
