Question: List the mechanical properties of wood for which reference design values are provided in the NDS Supplement.
The NDS supplement refers to the the National Design Specification Supplement for Wood Construction (the question if from my Design of Wood Structures class). Other than that, I'm not really sure what the question is asking. I don't know what "mechanical properties of wood" means. Thanks for the help!
The Mechanical properties of wood means it defines it's fitness and ability to resist applied forces.
The Mechanical properties of wood for which reference design values are provided in NDS supplement are
1.Modulus of rupture in bending
2.Maximum stress in compression parallel to grain
3.Compressive stress perpendicular to grain
4.Shear stress parallel to grain
5.Impact bending
6.Tensile strength perpendicular to grain
7.Tensile strength parallel to grain
8.Hardness
9.Torsion
10.Toughness
11.Rolling shear strength
12.Fracture toughness
13.Creep
14.Fatigue strength
