It is an exact gauge and comprises of working out the amounts of every thing of work and working out the expense. The measurement, breadth, and height of every thing are taken out accurately from drawing and quantities required for every item are resolved. A detailed estimate is set up in two phases:

1. Details of measurement and calculation of quantities,
2. Abstract of estimated cost

Details of estimations of every item of work are taken from plan and drawings and calculated in the estimation sheet. An abstract is set up by deciding the expense of every item of work. The rates of different items are taken from the schedule of rate.
