There is in need to design an armchair for a local furniture company. The armchair should be designed with lightweight materials (e.g. wood, hard fibers, Medium-density fiberglass), reasonable cost (e.g. simple connections, normal finish), comfortable seat (use high quality sponge or cushion fabric), and a feature allowing user to hold a drinking cup. No plastic materials can be included in the arcmchair which would increase cost. The designed armchair after trial and use test should support s person with maximum weight of 260 kg. The chair back support width is calculated based on health requirements and found to be 68 cm, and arm rests (hand supports) should be made from high quality sponge and fine leather. The chair is designed for all users except for people with backpain or with special needs.

Design Problem Statement:- There is great demand of lightweight,comfortable Arm chair along with a cup or glass holder at reasonable cost. A local furniture company has taken order for same and have to design the same for all type of users except that with back pain.

Design requirement:-

1. Armchair must be light weight.

2. It must be at reasonable cost.

3. It must be comfortable in seating.

4. It must have a cup holder in it.

Design Specification:-

1. No plastic material must be used.

2. It should be able to bear a maximum weight of 260 KG.

3. Width of back support should be 68 CM.

4. Arm rest should be made of high quality sponge and fine leather.

One possible design constraint is that this Armchair cannot be used by persons with backpain and with special need.
