Shear wall is structural wall, primary designed to resist lateral forces acting in the plane of the wall due to wind or earth quack in addition to the gravity loads . A reinforced concrete shear wall consists of horizontal and vertically distributed reinforcements. Reinforcement should meet the requirements of ACI 318 providing adequate resistance to moments shear and axial forces due to combined effect’s of lateral and axial load in the wall

ACI code specify required and minimum horizontal and vertical distributed reinforcemet to resist factored axial ,shear and moment in the wall and other load due to shrinkage and temperature
