The sources of salinity in groundwater are -

1) Rains - the water evaporated from sea contains some salts with them also , so after condensation the water with salts also come into earth surface and mixes up in groundwater.

2) weathering of rocks - Rocks contain salts so when weathering of rocks happen due to atmosphere or due to running water then also the salts gets separated from rocks and gets mixed up with groundwater.

Landusky sprink is approximately half saturated with anhydride while the lower Indiana spring is fully saturated anhydride.

The groundwater salinity in coastal areas is due to the seepage of salt water from the ocean and due to this seepage the salinity gets added up in the coastal groundwater.
