1. Use a diagram to illustrate the four physical realms of the earth.
2. Itemize the three core values of development.
3. Write short notes on three of the following:
(a) Perpetual natural resources (b) biotic resources (c) Potential
natural resources
(d) Stock natural resources (e) Living renewable natural
resources.
4. Discuss the salient features of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change of 1994 in an effort to regulate global greenhouse gas emissions.
5. Critically examine the relationship between human population and natural resources based on Neo-Malthusian logic.
Atmosphere- atmosphere srounds the earth as a layer containing a mixture of gases.
Biosphere- It is the realm of living organisms.
Lithosphere- It is the surface layer of the earth. It forms a thin crust of the earth.
Hydrosphere- It included the vast oceans that cover 71 per of the earth's surface.
Three core value of devlopment-
Sustenance - The Ability to Meet Basic Needs like Food, shelter, health, protection.
Self-Esteem- Sense of worth and self-respect and feeling of not being marginalized are extremely important for individual’s well being. All peoples and societies seek some form of self-esteem.
Freedom from Servitude- Human freedom, the ability to choose, is essential for the well being of individuals. Freedom involves an expanded range of choices for societies: economic and political. It involves freedom from bondage, serfdom, and other exploitative economic, social, and political relationships.
Prepetual natural resources- The resources which does not get exhausted after large exploitation is called perpetual natural resources. As for example, solar energy, flowing water, water tides and winds. The solar energy is a never ending resource and it will exist as long as there is sun.
Abiotic resources - A type of natural resource derived from the biosphere as opposed to abiotic resource from non living things.
Potential natural resources- The resources that exist in a region and may be used in the future are called potential natural resources.
The salient features of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change of 1994 is that to stabilize greenhouse gas concentrations in the atmosphere at a level that would prevent dangerous anthropogenic interference with the climate system.
Relationship between human population and natural resources- one of the most pressing issue of the world is the fast growth of population.many countries are lacking many needed basic amenities due to population growth.population and natural resources have a strong relationship with each other the growth and decline of population affects the availability of natural resources at the same time the availability of natural resources affects the trends seen in population .The amount of natural resources that is present and can be used by humans. If the availability of natural resources decrease, a population will have to resort to different means of getting their needed materials, this can dramatically change the flow of population trends.
