Two types of geologically deposited soils are residual soils and transported soils.
Residual soils are the soils which resides near to the parent rock after weathering.. Where as the transported soil are the soils which got transported away from the parent rock by means of water, wind, glaciers, gravity, etc...
There are specific names for the soils according to their modes of transportation. for example
transported by gravity - coluvial soil
transported by river - alluvial soil
