What are the grading requirements for the sub base and base layers of the flexible pavement structure

Homework Answers

Answer #1

Particle size distribution of aggregate is termed as Gradation. Gradation range vary for sub base and base layer of flexible pavement. Gradation depend upon type and conditions to which the granular layer is subjected. Frost susceptibility and permeability of pavement depends on the gradation. Base stability also depends on gradation of aggregate used. The maximum size of 50mm or less is used for granular base and is dense graded. Granular sub base can have a nominal maximum size of 100mm.

1. X-ray films consist of a flexible plastic base coated in a gel that contains light sensitive silver halide crystals (ie., silver bromide and silver chloride). These films are exposed to X-ray radiation to produce images of the inside of a subject. Once the films are no longer needed, it is common practice to recycle the film to recover the silver. This process is done by shredding the film and placing it in a large cyanide solution bath. The silver...
