9. You are the assistant superintendent on the current project. You are getting ready to schedule a major concrete foundation pour. The rate of placement has been calculated at 4 vertical feet per hour given the current conditions. The concrete truck will be providing 8 cubic yards per truck. The wall is 18 inches thick, 22 feet high and 150 feet long. How often do you need to schedule the arrival of a concrete truck assuming there will be no problems?
The dimension of the wall is 18 inch * 22 ft * 150 ft
= 1.5 ft * 22 ft * 150 ft
Of this 22 feet height of wall, 4 ft height of wall should be filled in each hour
So the quantity that has to be filled each hour = 1.5 * 4 * 150 = 900 cub ft
Capacity of each truck = 8 cub yard = 8 * 27 cub ft =216 cub ft
Number of trucks that has to arrive each hour = 900/216 = 4.167
Time that can be taken for the successive arrival of truck = 60min / 4.167 = 14.4 min
So a truck has to arrive at a time gap of 14.4 min inorder to construct the wall at a speed of 4 ft height per hour.
