Echo -
Echo is a reflection of sound which come to listener with delay in time of the direct sound.
It is due to bounce back of sound after strike to some solid subject without any absorbent between them.
Eg - in empty room echo sound is heard but not in the room which is full of things. Same in the big halls, in Valley and under water.
This concept used in submarine, whales and bat is also fly and catch prey with same concept echo.
It is used measured distance with the help of calculating or counting time when echo come to listener.
Speed of sound = distance / (time / 2)
As we know speed of sound is 343 m/s at 20'C in dry air
Therefore
343 = distance / ( time / 2)
Distance = 171.5 * time
Distance in metre and time in sec.
