RAP (Recycled Asphalt Pavement) is obtained by milling of pavement or ripping and crushing of the pavement, it can be combined with aggregate and asphalt cement to produce hot asphalt mixer. When the RAP is added at the hot end drum mixer a blue smoke is produced due to the contact of RAP with the burner flame. This smoke is caused by the presense of light oils in the aggregates which are combined with the RAP. However , this problem can be eradicated by lowering the hot mix plant's rate of production, increasing the water content.
