True or False? Explain
a. A well located in a low hydraulic conductivity region can produce high flow rates if we reduce the well pipe diameter.
b. The drawdown at the well radius includes the hydrodynamic effect of the pumping and the losses due to the gradual clogging of the filter and screen opening.
a. False
The flow rate depends on permeability, available head, the diameter of the pump, and pump characteristics.
If we increase pump diameter then flow
r1 is radius of observation well and r2 is the radius of well hence as r2 reduces then flow rate decreases.
b. False
Because the hydrodynamic effect of the pumping is the sealing mechanism to increase drawdown from the well. Drawdown is the how much can extract if head falls down by 1m.
It does not includes head loss due to clogging if the filter and screening openeing.
