Traverse computation is very simple process in surveying. First of all you have to collect two data at each traverse station first one is bearing (angle) at each traverse station, it will help u to plot the line in fixed direction. 2nd one is length of each traverse line or side. For these two data collection u need compass for bearing and chain for length.

Now u have start the operation at 1st station or control station by measuring the length of first side of traverse and its bearing. Now shift the instrument at 2nd station and perform same operation toward 3rd station. And process will continue till last station. If there will be any closing error we have to adjust it.
