A Hammer was accidentally dropped downwards from a 5-star hotel building with
a height of 800 ft. Meanwhile, after 1.5 seconds, a ball is thrown vertically upward from
the base of the building having a velocity of 225 ft/sec after. Determine the time it takes
for these two objects to meet and at what point it will occur.

Answer #1

The problem is based on the rectilinear motion and acceleration due to gravity. Therefore rectilinear motion equations to be used as follows:

V=U+at

V2 = U2 + at2

and S= Ut + 0.5at2

The solution is attched herewith.

Thanks.
