A diamond drilling rig is used to extract intact core from a sandstone aquifer. A piece of saturated core is trimmed to form a cylinder 10 cm diameter and 25 cm long. The saturated weight of the cylindrical sample is 3.830 kg. The sample is left to drain (by gravity) after which it weighs 3.673 kg. Finally, the sample is oven dried at 105oC to a constant weight of 3.339 kg. a) Calculate the volume of the sample b) Calculate the Specific Yield of the sample c) Calculate the porosity of the sample.
