Q4. You are working in a waste water treatment plant, once your treatment plant receives sewage water with more colloidal or dissolved organic materials. As an Engineer what type of treatment will you prefer for this sewage water? Justify and explain the method selected by you.

colloidal/dissolve organic matter can be removed by secondary tratment of waste water. aerobic biological treatment is performed in the presence of O2 in which microorganism use these dissolved matter as their food and produce more microorganism and inorganic end products like CO2, amonia and water by their metabolic process.

these microorganism removed from effluent by sedimentation. for this secondary clarifier is used.

as dissolve matter can not be remove either sedimentation or filtration and further it is organic in nature. hence removed by microorganism metabolism.
