A pipe 300 mm in diameter conveys oil of specific gravity 2.5 at a velocity of 0.5 m/s. A venturi contraction 150 mm in diameter at the throat is fitted in the pipeline and the pressure difference between the inlet and the throat is measured by an inverted U-tube manometer containing oil. Given that the maximum gauge reading is to be 900 mm, Cd = 0.92. Determine
i) The density of the oil in manometer.
ii) For the same pipe diameter and pressure difference if the discharge is doubled thn find the throat diameter? Take Cd = 0.9 Write your comment on the result.
