- No, the cost of backfills are not more than the Excavation because backfilling is the process of putting the soil back into a trench or foundation once excavation, and the related work has been completed.

So it is relatively easy, less costly and fast process from Excavation.

● The cost of excavations ranges from $50 to $200 per cubic yard and the cost per cubic yard of backfill ranged from $6.40 to $7.50.

So according to this the cost of backfill is approximaetly 5-6 % of cost of excavation.
