Hello to all and thank you for taking time out of your life to view my issue. Currently, a Construction Management student, who is working daytime as a Steamfitter. Prior service as a US NAVY SEABEE. I have been on construction sites with the Bees. Done some home remodeling etc... you get the picture. I took Construction Management, I am retiring next year and was looking for something to do during retirement. I have passed my main courses 1) Introduction to Construction 2) Construction Management. Now I'm taking my electives. My first choice is Surveying Fundamentals. There was no info in what the course would entail. Not having a trig, geometry, or algebra background I am struggling mightily. My other choices are 1. Construction Materials 2. Drawing and Specs 3. Safety and Planning / Administration 4. Cost estimating 5. Project scheduling 6. Survey Fundamentals. I am going to contact my school and see if I can switch from Surveying to something else( halfway through Surveying). I hate asking for help for things that I have no understanding of. Like angles and bearing computations. I have learned from Todd Horton on youtube. I need advice and guidance. Mike. thanx.

I think Project scheduling would be best option for you since you have already completed the main course of construction management. (you should have some basic knowledge of mathematics and algebra). It will be like how you will arrange the various activities to make the construction project economical.

Cost estimating will require a moderate level of mathematics and algebra.

Construction material would be mostly theoretical. This would be good if you are good in theoretical subjects.

Drawings will be imaginative to draw the missing views (front view , top view etc) and specs will be theoretical.

Safety and planning / administration will be mostly theoretical subjects. This would be good if you are good in theoretical subjects.

Take your decision based on the above information.
