briefly describe the three properties of rainfall that primarily concern highway engineers

1.The vehicles on the road skids if water is present on the highway due to refuced friction between the tyre and the surface and due to this accident may happen on the roads.

2. The penetrating rainfall water on flexible pavement reduces the binding forces betwwen the aggregate ( cohesion and adhesion due to surface tension) and weaken the pavement leading to striping off of the aggregate due to tyre friction and ditches may form on the roads.This will ultimately reduces the life of the pavement and accident may occur on the road.

3.there should be provision for drain off of the rainfall water in traverse and longitudinal direction to avoid cutoff of the base and subbase material in heavy rainfall areas and in hilly areas.
