When doing a Spectrophotometric Determination of Cooper in Brass Lab explain why it is necessary to dissolve the metal samples in a fume hood or near a vent station.
Solution :- When metal samples are dissolved in concetrated acid solutions then by the reaction of the metal and acid variuos gases are evolved from the reaction mixture. The evolved gases may be carcinogenic or skin and eye irritating therefore to avoid the accidental inhilation of the gases and avoid the skin and eye contacts with the gas. The metals are dissolved in fume hood which allow the evolved gases to escape from the fume hood without coming incontact with skin , eye or avoiding the inhilation of the gases.
