Why do Hydrogen atoms form only single bonds with other atoms and not double or triple bonds like Carbon atoms?
ans)
from above information that
We know that
Electronic configuration of hydrogen atom -------->1S^1
when only one pair of electron is shared single covalent bond results
since H atom don't have more then one electron
so it has single bond only it can not form double and triple bond
c in ground state of configuration 1s^2 2s^2 2p^2======>1s 2s 2p
in exicted state it has 2s2p configuration
so here total four electrons in valence shell obtained
since carbon has more then one electron in valance shell.so it can form double and triple bond also
so this way hydrogen atoms forms only single bonds compare with the crabon atoms
